My only comfort is knowing that David (after he had peddled so much crud) penned the words in the Psalms asking God to bless him based on the merit of his righteousness. Post-Bathsheba-post-murderous-man-David: righteous? Dude.
 Seems odd that he would write that. But not really. Because apparently - real righteousness is not obtained through perfection.
      But rather through humility.
    Through an acknowledgment of the sufficiency of God and His ability to BE JESUS, for us. Christianity is the only religion where salvation and blessing and liberty and justice come because of what someone Else did -
                                   not from what we could never do, even on our good days.
