Great Sunday
“Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”  [jn 20:27]

Easter Sunday, 2007

Brian passed out a copy of Steve Troxels book from Gods Daily Word Ministries to everyone at church this morning. Steve had donated the books to us to distribute for free in Kenya.
Brian told the congregation that through Gods faithful provision to Steve and his ministry, Steve desired not only to bless St. Pauls Anglican church w/the new floor for their new building [which is finished now and looks grand!] but he also wanted to bless their hearts spiritually by giving them the devotional books he had written.
Everyone’s face lit up as they enjoyed their gift.
The service lasted around 2 hours today and a woman preached the sermon about the Evidence of Christs Resurrection. Were not yet in the new building so we all crammed in an old building made for around 100 people but today [and MOST Sundays] it held around 300. It was extremely hot as well and I began to get a bit clausterphobic. The veins on the backs of my hands enlarged some and I showed them to Brian since I thought my body had switched to auto-combustion-mode and that soon I would just --- you know, blow ---- due to the heat and odors associated w/such cramped quarters. Brian calmly showed me the enlarged veins on the backs of his hands, too, and assured me it was just the heat and that I would be fine. He gave me an arm & hand rub, though, while we recited our verses back to the preacher.
By the end of the 2 hours, it was time for communion. The church here serves alcohol for the portion of the Blood of Christ . . . which comes as a surprise each time I take it.
After church, we hid the kids gifts outside. Bry got a hat. Tayte got a T-shirt. Jordan got a made-in-China-exported-to-Africa Walkie-Talkie set that should last us the rest of this week, we hope. And Kat got some candy, a T-shirt and a cute little bear that lights up and sings if you put the wires underneath it at just the right angle, stand on one leg and shout Victory.
Then we ate our two chickens (it takes two since they are mostly bones) and our mashed potatoes and chocolate cake. And watched the next installment in the History Channel series on the American Revolution. Were hoping to finish it before we get back to the States next week because we want to know who won. We wouldnt want to get back only to find everyone speaking French .  . . or some Native American language. Or even playing Cricket. We just want to be prepared. Its an exciting series. Weve made it to the Battle of Saratoga so far w/the self-destruction of the British due to the pride of General Howe.
Oh yes, when we stopped at the store to get milk - they were sold out. So I picked up a type of milk that is sold here that is called Long Life milk. It can last up to 9 months w/out spoiling - which for milk - means it holds true to its name. But, with it being Easter Sunday and all - - - the day to remember Christ resurrecting from the grave --- and through that offering us the same gift of eternal life simply for the trusting ~ I thought that Long Life anything today was most appropriate.
Oh yes, Tayte also found a brand new batch of baby chameleons in our front flowerbed today (cute little guys.) Bryanne divvied out the dog & cat food. And I ate a whole avocado [not a small feat] from one of our 3 avocado trees in our yard -- while Brian and I laid out in our swimsuits underneath the gorgeous African sun and got a tan.
     A blessed Easter, indeed.
