Finding solace in...I found some...

Today is a holiday in Kenya. Moi day. I’m having a tree cut down in our yard to celebrate.
“Mom, you can’t cut the tree down,” Katerisha said earlier this morning.
  “Why?” I asked.
“My teacher said we can’t cut trees down.”
“She’s right, in a way,” I answered. I then walked Kat around the yard and explained to her that some trees get old and they need to be cut before they fall and hurt someone. And that what we need to do is plant new trees in its place. I showed her the numerous trees we have planted on this property. Since moving here to this house 4 years ago, I’ve probably planted over 45 trees. We have jacaranda, flame trees, acacia trees, papaya trees, trees that are pretty but I don’t know their names, pine trees ---- all sorts.

I’m cutting this particularly ugly and old tree down today because Brian is supposed to come back tonight and he finally (after 4 years) gave me permission to have this tree cut two weeks ago and I want to have it cut before he gets home in case he changes his mind. It’s one of the ugliest trees I’ve ever seen. Plus it’s old and hairy. Yuck.

Robinson came to cut it. His “business-as-missions” business is actually a power saw business that East West started for him. Robinson is an evangelist and ARK chairman and this business helps to support his ministry.

Not to mention - it did a nice job on getting rid of that ugly tree. Midway into the tree-cutting venture today --- I looked out my window and spied a Robinson jumping up and down and laughing hysterically on the trampoline. :)
